Actress turned politician Geetha Kumarasinghe has filed an appeal before the Supreme Court, seeking to revise the decision made against her.

Last week a Court of Appeal ruling disqualified Kumarasinghe from being a MP on account of her dual citizenship status.

Under the 19th amendment to he current constitution no person that holds dual citizenship can participate in an election or function in Parliament.

This morning, Parliamentary General Secretary Dhammika Dassanayake informed the Election Commissioner the post held by Geetha Kumarasinghe was officially annulled and her seat was now vacant.
