A twenty-six year man and two women who were arrested in relation to the kidnapping of a 2 ½ year old boy were remanded till May 18, by the Gampola Magistrate yesterday.
On May 3, the mother of the child reported her son missing together with the 26-year-old relative.
A ransom sum of Rs. 3 million was demanded of the parents.
The relative, who was said to be of unsound mind, was prime suspect in the kidnapping.
Police later located him in Kandy.
On information received upon interrogation, the Police traced the missing child to a home in Karadiyanaru, Batticaloa.
A woman who owned the house and another woman were arrested on the premises.
