The Court of Appeal has issued a notice on Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) Chairman Dr. Anurudda Padeniya.

Dr. Padeniya is charged with contempt of court.

Charges were filed against him at the Appeal Court yesterday for undermining the judgment on January 31.

On January 31 the Court of Appeal ruled the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) was lawful and MBBS graduates qualified for Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) accreditation.

The GMOA is currently on an islandwide token in strike in protest of the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine.
