The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has said they will initiate an islandwide strike against the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) on Friday, May 5.

Several trade unions attached to the health sector, the education sector and transport sector will join the strike, the GMOA said.

In addition, veterinary surgeons, ayurvedic doctors and dentist unions will join the islandwide strike.

The GMOA has threatened a continued islandwide strike if the government doesn’t abolish SAITM.
