The time frame allowed for dumping garbage at the Karadiyana garbage dump has come to an end, the Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court said today.
The Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court previously granted permission for 350 metric tons of garbage from Colombo to be dumped at Karadiyana, Piliyandala on a temporary basis.
The time frame allowed by the Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court was from April 17 to April 28.
The issue of where Colombo's garbage will go arose after the Meethotamulla tragedy on April 14, when 32 people died and several more injured after a section of the Meethotamulla garbage dump collapsed on residents.
