'Janaka Tennakoon's Removal Is Orchestrated By Sirikotha: Shoddy Treatment To Party Founder's Son'

The decision to remove MP Janaka Bandara Tennakoon from the SLFP electoral organizer post of Matale is a conspiracy orchestrated by Sirikotha, the UNP headquarters, UPFA MP Dullas Alahapperuma said.

He said it was disappointing that the party had decided to remove Tennakoon, a son of T.B Tennakoon, from the Matale electorate which the MP represented for decades.

"T.B. Tennakoon was one of the founders of our party. The treatment meted out to his son was shoddy," Alahapperuma said, addressing a Joint Opposition press conference in Colombo, yesterday.

Alahapperuma said decisions of this nature drove the true SLFPers away from the party.

Meanwhile, addressing another press conference in Colombo, SLFP General Secretary Duminda Dissanayake said he did not wish to make any personal comments on Janaka Tennakoon or his son, Pramitha Tennakoon who resigned from his ministerial portfolio after his father's removal.

"But I can say one thing. Janaka Tennakoon was one of the early architects of the January 08 revolution," he added.
