UPFA General Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera said 800 more buses have been reserved this year to transport party supporters to the SLFP May Day rally in Kandy.
"We have already reserved 800 more buses this year than last year to facilitate those attending the May Day rally. A sea of people will cover the Getambe ground on May 01st in support of President Maihthripala Sirisena," Amaraweera said, addressing a press conference in Colombo yesterday.
"Last year's May Day rally was the biggest May Day rally held by the SLFP in its history. This year, we will break our own record," Amaraweera said.
"A large number of people will participate in this year's May Day rally representing the North and the East. Also, the youth participation will be extremely high at this year's event," the General Secretary explained.
"The May Day rally in Kandy will be the only May Day event organised by the SLFP. The SLFPers will not go anywhere else," he said, when asked about the May Day rally organised by the Joint Opposition at the Galle Face Green.
