Petroleum Resources Minister Chandima Weerakkody has said that fuel distribution would return to normal by noon today.

The Petroleum Resources Development Minister told reporters that work would go back to normal after the strike was called off last night. 

Long queues were to be seen yesterday after the trade unions attached to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) began strike action on midnight on Sunday.

Negotiations with Petroleum Resources Development Minister Chandima Weerakkody failed when the trade unions called for President Sirisena’s involvement.

The trade union action was called off after the Prime Minister met with trade unions last night promising them he would not sign any agreement with India during his visit scheduled for today (April 25).
