Megapolis and Western Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka told media that the government was committed to finding a scientific solution to the Meethotamulla garbage problem.
“As a responsible government we can’t allow the people back to Meethotamulla. The Meethotamulla garbage dump is still unstable.”
“The government is committed to finding a scientific solution to this problem,” he said.
He said further that within 8 days of the disaster the government had announced a home for every home lost in the disaster.
“We have initiated a plan to give homes to those who are displaced. 98 homes have been prepared in the initial stage. Those who want the homes can take it. Those who don’t want the homes and are refusing to take them, what can we do about that?” he asked.
