A parliamentary debate on the Meethotamulla incident will take place when parliament convenes next week.

Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) leader and MP Dinesh Gunawardene had requested the government to hold a parliamentary session on the Meethotamulla disaster.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who was in Vietnam at the time but flew back to Sri Lanka cutting short his visit has reportedly acceded to the request.
