Disaster Management Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa said yesterday the government was would stand firm on it’s decision to deposit garbage from Colombo in other areas.
Speaking to reporters at the conclusion of a meeting with the President and Prime Minister in attendance the Disaster Management Minister said he was aware of the protests across the country.
“We have a problem,” he said. “There are a few places we have identified for dumping garbage. But there have been protests.”
“However the government will stand firm in its decision,” he said.
His comments come in the wake several protests around the country and garbage trucks from Colombo tried to deposit garbage at the dumpsites.
