The residents of Karadiyana embarked on a protest this morning against the dumping of garbage in their area.

They allege that the dumping of Colombo garbage at Karadiyana will create equally dangerous situation in Karadiyana in the future.

Meanwhile, Kotikawatte residents yesterday staged a protest against the dumping of Colombo garbage in their area.

The decision to dump garbage in Karadiyana, Kotikawatte and other areas comes in the wake of the Meethotamulla tragedy, which claimed 32 lives.

Several more are still missing and troops are on the ground continuing search operations.
