The Kesbewa Magistrate this morning made a order ruling that the Colombo Municipal Council could dump garbage at Karadiyana in Piliyandala – temporarily.

Colombo Municipal Commissioner V. K. Anura said garbage would be dumped at a few other sites as well, instead of Meethotamulla.

Meanwhile residents at Kottikawatte have organized protests against the dumping or garbage in their area.  

The decisions come in the wake of a section of the garbage mound at Meethotamulla collapsing on residences, killing as many as 30.
