The government has announced Rs. 100, 000 as compensation for families of the victims of the Meethotamulla disaster.

It also announced that up to Rs. 2.5 million compensation would be paid by the government for property damages.

The Disaster Management Ministry meanwhile said there would be more compensation coming to the victims.
