A group of Japanese experts will visit Sri Lanka next week, to assist Sri Lankan authorities in finding a solution to the garbage issue.
The Japanese experts will visit Colombo under the instructions of the country’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
In a personal message to his Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday, Abe had said his country would extend its full support to Sri Lanka in finding a solution to the garage disposal issue.
He had also expressed condolences to the victims of the Meethotamulla incident where a section of the garbage dump collapsed, damaging over 100 houses.
Abe held bilateral discussions with the Sri Lankan Prime Minister last week on a wide range of issues.
The garbage dump collapsed as the Sri Lankan Prime Minister concluded his official visit to Japan.
