President Instructs Authorities To Provide Relief To Meethotamulla Victims Without Financial Restraints

President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed government authorities to provide relief to Meethotamulla garbage dump victims, without any financial restraints. 
 
The President chaired a meeting yesterday with all relevant parties at the Disaster Management Centre in Colombo. At the meeting, the President looked into the progress of relief measures and the ongoing rescue operations. 
 
Ministers Susil Premajayantha, Anura Priyasarshana Yapa, Patali Champika Ranawaka, A.H.M. Fowzie, Defence Ministry Secretary Karunasena Hettiarachchi, IGP Pujith Jayasundara and Army Commander Lt. General Chrishantha de Silva were also present at the discussion.
  
Addressing the government officials who attended the meeting, the President said addressing the needs of the Meethotamulla victims should be the utmost priority of the government. 
 
'Therefore, don't worry about financial problems. All expenses will be provided by the state," the President said. 
 
He also said a comprehensive compensation mechanism would be introduced to the Meethotamulla victims who lost their family members and properties due to the collapse of the garbage dump, on Friday.
