Gunaratne Goes To Bribery Commission Over Misappropriation Of Funds At Power And Renewable Energy Ministry

The former Chairman of the government owned Lanka Coal Company (LCC) Maithri Gunaratne, has gone to the Bribery Commission over alleged misappropriation of funds at the Power and Renewable Energy Ministry. 

Maithri Gunaratne, who was  removed from office when Power and Energy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya dissolved the board of directors on January 17 on the advise of Power and Renewable Energy Ministry Secretary Dr. B. M. S. Batagoda, alleges that Batagoda has swindled the public of funds amounting to Rs. 5 billion through coal tenders. 

Gunaratne said he had informed the Bribery Commission of the misappropriation of funds and that he would continue to stand against fraud.
