Mahajana Eksath Peramuna  (MEP) Leader Dinesh Gunawardena yesterday said the Joint Opposition would join the islandwide protest organised by the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA).

The Government Medical Officers’ Association had organised an islandwide strike action that will go into effect on April 7. Reportedly over 1,500 trade unions are will participate in the strike that, including dentists and veterinarians.

The GMOA is protesting inaction by the government on the SAITM issue. They allege the government has not acted on the proposals submitted by the University Deans on February 11.
