The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has threatened a massive strike on April 7, in protest of government inaction on the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM).

GMOA Secretary Dr. Naveen De Zoysa said dentists, ayurvedic doctors and even veterinarians would join in the strike on April 7.

Additionally, Dr. Zoysa said, the GMOA was in talks to get the private sector also to join the strike.

The Secretary said that if there was no answer forthcoming from the government, the GMOA would make a decision whether to continue the strike or not.

The GMOA has been protesting against SAITM which they say is unlawful and should be stopped.
