‘Mahinda Started It’: Mano Says Mahinda Started Process That Brought International Involvement

National Co-existence Dialogue and Official Languages Minister Mano Ganesan in a tweet today said it was former President Mahinda Rajapaksa who started the process that has culminated in international intervention in Sri Lanka’s domestic affairs.

‘MR & Co can’t reject int’l Role now,’ he tweeted. ‘Because they sent Sarath W to Geneva & sought UN rapporteur in Colombo for investigation!’

He was responding to a comment by former External Affairs Minister G.L. Pieris.

'MR activist GL Peiris says No war crimes ever occurred. If so why, anxious, nervous, restless, agitated about int’l judges!', he asked.

Sri Lanka has however rejected the idea of international intervention except in an advisory role. The United Nations Human Rights Council had suggested the option of a hybrid court with international judges to try alleged war crimes at the end of the war.
