United National Party (UNP) has decided to conduct several radical changes within the party.
According to the sources, after 30 years the party is ready to conduct several changes for key positions, including position of General Secretary. Further, three deputy party leaders to be appointed with minority representation. The new appointments to be announced next week.
Meanwhile a special programme aiming the upcoming Local Government Election also to be launched. Party leader Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has issued directives to strengthen all organizations affiliated with the party. Meantime, the party restructuring process of adding candidates who are contesting the election will also be shortlisted and thousands of people have already undergone interviews at the party headquarters, Sirikotha.
