Missing journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda's wife, received the 'International Women of Courage' award from United States First Lady Melania Trump, at a ceremony yesterday.

The International Women of Courage Award recognises women around the globe who have demonstrated exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for peace, justice, human rights, gender equality, and women’s empowerment - often at great personal risk.

Sandya Eknaligoda is embroiled in a longstanding battle with two successive governments in Sri Lanka seeking closure and justice for her husband who went missing on January 24, 2010.
