The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has issued an ultimatum to the government threatening to launch the ‘biggest strike ever’ if a solution to the SAITM issue is not found by April 3.
GMOA Secretary Dr. Naveen De Zoysa told reporters in Colombo as many as 50 other trade unions would join the GMOA in their strike action, effectively crippling essential services.
Dr. De Zoysa also said the government and its 'ineffective Cabinet of Ministers' should be held responsible for any deaths of discomfiture experienced by patients, as a result of the strike action.
The GMOA want the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) to be shut down.
