Supporters of MP Wimal Weerawansa said the doctors treating him at the Prison Hospital had recommended to transfer him to the Colombo National Hospital.
A spokesman of the National Freedom Front, led by Weerawansa said, the doctors had made the recommendation considering the MP's current situation.
"They are of the belief that the Colombo National Hospital can treat him better," the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, Prison authorities today informed the Colombo High Courl Weerawansa cannot be produced before court as a witness in a bribery case due to his health condition.
The Chief Medical Officer of Welikada Prison Hospital informed the HC that the health condition of MP Weerawansa was too weak due to his hunger strike.
Weerawansa is a witnesses in the case filed against former Deputy Minister Myown Mustafa on charges of offering Rs.4.2 million to former National Freedom Front Parliamentarian Mohamed Muzammil.
