The government has decided to provide loans with low interest rates to families to install solar power panels in their houses. Loans from 150 thousand to 350 thousand rupees will be given by state and private banks in this connection.

Deputy minister Ajith P.Perera says, the electricity consumers who obtain loans will be given a 50 percent concession by the Ministry of Power and Energy. Families whose monthly electricity bill exceeds 2000 rupees will be motivated to obtain these loans.
