Three-Month Amnesty Declared For Sri Lankan Workers Overstaying In Saudi Arabia

A three month general amnesty has been announced for Sri Lankan workers overstaying in Saudi Arabia to return home. The Foreign Employment Bureau mentioned that the amnesty will be effective from the 29th of this month.
All Sri Lankans who are staying in Saudi Arabia without residential visas and others who are staying in the kingdom violating international border laws can leave the country without any punishment. Saudi authorities have warned that stern legal action will be instituted against illegal migrant workers after the end of this amnesty period.
Meanwhile, Foreign Employment Bureau said that it will unveil a programme in collaboration with the Sri Lankan mission in Saudi Arabia to get down all illegal Sri Lankan migrants from Saudi Arabia.
