EU Extends Fullest Support To National Reconciliation And Economic Development In Sri Lanka

Ambassador of the European Union Tung Lai Margue says the EU is satisfied with the national reconciliation process in Sri Lanka. The present government has taken satisfactory measures to strengthen peace harmony and solidarity among Sri Lankan people. Therefore, the all member countries of the European Union will extend their fullest support to Sri Lanka in this regard.

The Ambassador Margue made these remarks at a ceremony held in Colombo yesterday to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Treaty of Rome, establishing the European Economic Community. Addressing the gathering Ambassador of Italy Paolo Andrea Bartorelli said President and the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka are playing a vital role in strengthening national reconciliation and economic development. Minister Malik Samarawickrema also spoke at this occasion. Ambassadors of the EU member states and a distinguished were also present at this ceremony.
