Lawyers representing Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa, filing a fresh bail application today, informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate that the MP's daughter was under severe mental duress due to her father's arrest.
The lawyers requested the Magistrate to grant Weerawansa bail under any condition, considering his daughter's health condition.
Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne, considering the request by Weerawansa's lawyers, said the Parliamentarian's bail application would be considered on April 03.
The lawyers informed that Weerawansa's daughter is now undergoing treatment at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital, Colombo, under the supervision of a Psychiatrist.
They also said Weerawansa's 15 year old daughter is also preparing for her GCE OL examination.
Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa was arrested on January 10 by the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) over alleged abuse of state vehicles.
