Doctors treating Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa informed prison officials this morning that the MP's blood pressure had increased, Prison Department sources said.
Weerawansa, who is currently in remand over abuse of state vehicles, launched a hunger strike on Wednesday.
The hunger strike was launched after the Colombo High Court's decision to reject his bail application.
Parliamentarian, who started his hunger strike by refusing his breakfast on Wednesday, had stopped drinking water yesterday.
The prison sources said the doctors were constantly monitoring his health condition.
They further added that the Prison Department would take measures to hospitalise the MP, if his health condition deteriorated.
