In Parliament today, MP Dinesh Gunawardena strongly protested the allegation that the Joint Opposition boycotted meetings of the Steering Committee.

“We have attended the Steering Committee meetings as much as possible,” he said.

The Makajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) leader also called for an investigation into source of this misinformation. 

Leader of the House Minister Lakshman Kiriella supported the claim, saying the JO – even though represented by just two members in the Steering Committee – had participated regularly.

Deputy Speaker Thilanga Sumathipala suggested the media be informed of the truth through a press conference.
