Deputy Foreign Minister. Dr. Harsha de silva, who led the Sri Lankan delegation during the interactive session on the Un Human Rights High Commissioner's report on Sri Lanka, said the government was committed to a transitional justice and constructive engagement with all stakeholders.

The Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, who addressed the session responding to the High Commissioner's report, said his government cosponsored the resolution 30/1 to with the aim of building a prosperous Sri Lanka, united in diversity, upholding human rights, justice and rule of law.

"This council knows that no country’s human rights record is perfect, though much has been done, still remains much to do," dr. De Silva said, in his speech. 

 

"We will listen to all, hear everyone’s concerns and engage meaningfully and constructively," the Deputy Foreign Affairs minister assured.

 

Dr. de silva however did not direct any criticism at the UNHRC's report which appreciated the CTF recommendations on reconciliation mechanisms. The main recommendation of the Task Force to set up a hybrid judicial mechanism, with the involvement of foreign judges, to prosecute war crimes during the final phase of war in Sri Lanka.

 

Sri Lankan Permanent Representative to Geneva Ravinatha Aryasinha was also present at the event.
