Minister Chandima Weerakkody says that a programme will be launched in future to utilize natural gas for the energy requirement of the country. He said this during a media briefing at Habaraduwa SLFP party office. Minister Chandima Weerakkody said that a decision has not been taken earlier to add natural gas to the country’s energy requirements.
He said that under the leadership of President Maithripala Sirisena they were able to add natural gas to cater to the country’s energy needs and would present a cabinet paper to build necessary infrastructure with the help of India and Japan. He added that as a collective cabinet paper it will be implemented next week.
