The latest postmortem reports indicate former Sunday Leader Editor died from assault to his head not shooting, CID told Court today.

The CID told Court that Wickremetunga died after a sharp instrument was lodged in his head and pulled out.

Wickremetunga's body was exhumed late last year to aid forensic investigations into his murder. 

The former Sunday Leader Editor was shot at by unidentified men in a high-security zone in January 2009. 

The CID is conducting investigations.
