South Korea has agreed to provide 375 million rupees to expand aquaculture.
Korea had agreed to grant this amount to Sri Lanka as a result of a discussion State Minister for Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Dilip Wedarachchi had with the Korean Ministry of Marine and Fisheries.
The State Minister said that this grant will be provided to the Aquaculture Development Authority and improve the local aquaculture. He said the projects that should be launched with this assistance have already been identified.
Accordingly it is proposed to build a Shrimp and Fish Products Industrial Zone. Also South Korea has agreed to build a fisheries housing village.
The Ministry said that State Minister Dilip Wedarachchi’s official tour of Korea has also yielded many benefits.
