The Western Province Commuter Transport Authority says having a ticket is compulsory for the commuters when they travel in buses from Wednesday. Conductors must also issue tickets to the passengers. A passenger will be fined a charge of 100 rupees, if there is no ticket.
The conductors also fined a sum of 250 rupees in such offences for the first time. If the same offence is repeated for the 2nd time the fine is 500 rupees. For the third time a fine of thousand rupees will be imposed and the conductor license will be cancelled.
