Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe says practical politicians who solve problems of the people are much needed to the country at present. The government expects to bring the country forward with the support of all parties. Public support is also essential for good governance. The Prime Minister made these remarks at a ceremony held yesterday at the BMICH to mark the centenary celebration of the historic 1917 October revolution in Russia.
The Prime Minister further said that the October revolution led to many social, political and economic changes in the world. Sri Lanka also experienced two revolutions in the recent past. One is President Maithripala Sirisena became the leader of the country.
The other is the two main political rivals UNP and the SLFP united to form the good governance rule. The present government follows the revolutionary method to solve the problems through negotiations.
