Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran has said that the definition of what constitutes to ‘Counter Terrorism’ is still unclear.
He told a local newspaper that although the Sectorial Oversight Committee on National Security had assured him that the TNA’s concerns regarding certain aspects of the Counter Terrorism Act (CTA) would be addressed, questions remained over what constitutes the term ‘Counter Terrorism.’
The TNA MP told the local newspaper that the original definition was six-pages long and that the TNA had suggested alternative based on international treaties.
He said he hoped the Sectoral Oversight Committee would take that suggestion on board.
