Sri Lanka ‘Warmly Welcomes’ Indian Devotees To Katchchathivu Festival Against Backdrop Of Fisherman Killing

Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Harsha de Silva said Sri Lanka extended a ‘warm welcome to Indian devotees at the Katchchathivu Festival.

His comments come just days after an Indian fisherman was alleged to have been shot and killed by Sri Lanka Navy.

“We welcome them. We once again mention here in brotherhood that we will look after them, and our Navy is going to facilitate all the devotees who will be coming to the Katchchathivu Festival,” the Deputy Foreign Minister said.

The annual Katchchathivu Festival will be held on the 11th and 12th of March.

Sri Lanka is expecting over 1, 500 devotees from India.
