Chief Government Whip and Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka said the pandemonium in parliament yesterday was a ‘well-orchestrated drama’ by the Joint Opposition.

He said the UNP condemned such tactics that wasted the public’s money.

‘We are a party responsible for the people who elected us. We urge the Speaker to take further stern action’, the Minister said, addressing a press conference.

Tension was high in parliament yesterday with JO MP Dinesh Gunawardene disturbing proceedings forcing Speaker Karu Jayasuriya to order his removal from Parliament.

 Speaker Karu Jayasuriya also suspended MP Dinesh Gunawardene from Parliament for a week.
