Law and Order and Southern Development Minister Sagala Rathnayake told Parliament yesterday that Police were on the hunt for former Kaduwela Pradeshiya Sabha member Lakmal Wilathgamuwa and Susil Udhayakumara, a driver attached to the Kotikawatte Pradeshiya Sabha over the shooting of SAITM CEO Dr. Sameera Senaratne.

Minister Rathnayake, however, cautioned against believing the SAITM CEO staged the attack, saying there were no eyewitnesses to the event, and Police investigations must conclude before a verdict can be given.

On February 6, two gunmen on a motorcycle shot at SAITM CEO Dr. Sameera Senarthne. Later, Police said the shooting was staged. Dr. Sameera Senarthne denied staging the shooting.  Yesterday, one person arrested in relation to the shooting said he was offered money to falsely confess to the shooting. Police investigations are continuing.
