The Federation of the University Teachers Association (FUTA) says it will launch a token strike later today (8), and will go on till tomorrow (9).
Media Spokesman of the Association Senior Lecturer KP Nishantha said the trade union action is being launched based on several demands including salary anomalies.
He further said the token strike was being launched as discussions held with the government were unsuccessful.
Nishantha said accordingly all lecturers in state universities will refrain from lecturing today and tomorrow.
He further noted as such most lectures and exams which were scheduled during this time will have to be postponed, adding University activities including students could be negatively affected as a result.
