Tension is hight in India over a shooting incident in which a 22-year-old fisherman lost his life.

India accuses the Sri Lanka Navy of shooting the Indian fisherman. The Sri Lanka Navy has however denied the charges.

The 22-year-old K. Bridjo from Ramanathapuram is the first fatality in about five years. Fellow boatman, Jeron (28) suffered injuries to his hand, Indian media reported.

Protests have erupted in Thangachimadam, Ramanathapuram as angry relatives refuse to receive the body from the hospital, demanding intervention and assurance for a solution.
