Former Supreme Court Judge Priyasath Dep took oaths as Chief Justice before President Sirisena this morning. 

Presidents Counsel Priyasath Dep is the most senior judge in the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka and has acted in the post of Chief Justice on many occasions.

His appointment was endorsed by the Constitutional Council earlier this week. 

Former Chief Justice K. Sri Pavan retired from the service yesterday.
