Three New Ships For Sri Lanka Coast Guards

The proposal by President Sirisena, in his capacity as Minister of Defence, to construct three offshore patrol ships, was approved by the Cabinet this week.

The ships – 85m in length – will be constructed by the Colombo Dockyard Company.

The Department of Coast Guard operates an extent of 517, 000 square kilometres of sea, and need ships that are capable of launching in shallow and deep waters.
