The Cabinet of Ministers this week, agreed to the following proposals put forward by President Sirisena, to accelerate government procurement process:

• To take action to publish the procurement guidelines and instructions issued by the Ministry of Finance from time to time regarding the government’s procurement process through the National Procurement Commission.
• Include new time frames that have been already approved by the Cabinet in Procurement Guidelines
• Update and amend suitably the current procurement guidelines paying attention to new trends such as e-procurement
• With government constructions, work on a general construction plan in suitable situations to reduce money and time spent on designing.
• Take action to provide technical skills to government officers on government procurement procedure
