Twenty-four of the suspects who were arrested over the clash in Hambantota last month, were released on bail this morning.

They were released on three personal bails of Rs.500, 000 each by Hambantota Magistrate Manjula Karunaratne.

Over 50 protestors were arrested in the clash with Police on January 7.

The suspects were protesting Chinese ambitions on their land.

Sri Lanka is currently in talks to lease 15, 000 acres of land in Hambantota for China to use as an industrial zone.
