The chairman of university grants commission Prof. Mohan de Silva says, that more than 71 thousand advanced level qualified students have applied for the university entrance for the academic year of 2016 and 2017. Receiving of applications were closed on last Monday. The commission says that it expects to admit 29 thousand three hundred thirty students for the coming academic year. This number exceeds the students admitted to universities than last year.

The entire admission process will be completed within 4 months. Prof.Mohan de Silva said that students were asked to apply online strictly. The response was encouraging. All those who applied will be notified that their applications have been received by the University grants Commission.
