President Maithripala Sirisena says he is the only president in Sri Lanka who has submitted his statement of assets. There will be no problem if the politicians and public servants do their duty in transparent manner. If the top leader is exemplary, the lower officials and followers will do the same. The president made these remarks at a ceremony held in the Temple trees this morning to officially inaugurate the Right to Information Act. The president further said that although there is no hard and fast rule in this regard he has submitted, a statement of assets during the past two years.

It was also declared to the public as requested by the journalists. The president added that public has given a mandate to this government, to establish a rule free of fraud, corruption and malpractices. The government has not so far, got tarnished its good image.

Therefore, both politicians and public servant should work mutually to carry forward the government’s development move in transparent manner. Some elements are conducting protest campaigns in Colombo misusing the freedom given by the government. The government has also given un-precedence benefits to war heroes.
