An allowance of 10,000 rupees will be provided to every farming family inconvenienced by the severe drought. President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed the relevant officials to take necessary measures in this regard.

He has issued directives to provide the allowance from the end of next month, subsequent to obtaining comprehensive details of affected families . A committee comprising of divisional secretaries, Grama Niladari officers as well as Samurdhi officers will be appointed for the purpose.

A rice concession will also be provided to people suffering from the drought.
