EU Ambassador To Visit North

Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives for the Delegation of the European Union (EU), H.E. Tung-Laï Margue, will visit the Northern Province from 15-17 February 2017.

Ambassador Margue, together with the United Nations Resident Coordinator Ms. Una McCauley, will meet the Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran on 15 February. They will travel to the Vavuniya district to visit projects implemented by UN agencies as part of the European Union Support to District Development Programme (EU-SDDP).

Ambassador Margue will visit the Kanagarayankulam Police Station to inaugurate a Women and Children's Desk; inspect the Public Employment Service Centre at the District Secretariat; handover equipment to the Technical College of the Department of Technical Education and Training in Nelumkulam; inaugurate a sewerage and wastewater treatment plant for the Vavuniya General Hospital; and declare open a Local Economic Development Centre and Economic Advisory Service in Venkalachedikulam.

Ambassador Margue will also visit an EU-funded housing project implemented by Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka and World Vision Lanka in the Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts.
